Plenty of Energy
I have been a mechanical guy for many years and have struggled with penetration on some deer. Shooting around 450gr arrow, 28" draw, 58-60 pounds, which is plenty of KE to kill deer. Mechanicals use so much energy to open I would have intermittent pass throughs and if I did they would hardly ever be stuck in the ground on the opposite side. Decided to try the Overkill Silver Flame 125XL Broadheads. Wish I would have known about them years ago. Went on a hunting trip recently and was able to harvest 3 deer with these heads. Two Does and One really nice buck. All free range deer. Complete pass through and stuck hard in the ground on the other side. Blood trails were good, which was a worry of mine coming from 2" mechanical, but now I'm getting exit holes which helps with blood trails. Not disappointed at all. This head will be my go to from now on. I did go to a 4 fletch arrow and retuned my bow for 125gr to get proper arrow flight. I think this is a must for a 1.5" fixed broadhead. No problems out to 40 yards. Long story short, this 1.5" broadhead zipped right through with plenty of energy to spare with my lower poundage set up, good blood trail and unless you hit a rock in the ground as I did on one shot, you can resharpen, put back into the quiver and they are ready for more. Satisfied customer.

I shot him at 20 yards broadside. I watched him for about 10 minutes before I shot him. Couldn’t have been a better way[...]

Overall, it was a slow start to the pre-rut, but with temps dipping down into the low 30s, what a difference a front can make in the deer woods. Sitting in the dark I could hear grunting, chasing and snort wheezing in the woods in front of me. After daylight broke things quieted down. An hour later a[...]
