Sparring Buck

I was hunting public land with my brother in early November and heard this buck sparring with another buck to the north of where I was set up. I rattled a few times and then just sat and waited. This buck came walking by behind me from left to right on a mission with his nose down. I couldn't get him to stop, so I quickly drew back and shot as he continued moving, quartering away from me at about 20 yards. As you can see in the picture, I hit pretty far forward into the leg and shoulder area.

I previously used lighter weight arrows and mechanical broadheads. With any other arrow setup and broadhead, I'm confident that I would not have recovered this deer. Fortunately for me, I purchased the Momentum TDT 320s and 200 grain Samurai broadheads near the end of the previous season. The heavy arrow and broadhead combination penetrated right through bone and cartilage and into his heart. He ran about 50 yards and fell over in some cattails, where we recovered him later that morning. Kudos to the team at Grizzlystik on designing a great arrow and broadhead system!

I shot him at 20 yards broadside. I watched him for about 10 minutes before I shot him. Couldn’t have been a better way[...]
