The 650-grain total arrow weight build includes Momentum TDT carbon hunting arrows with a Grizzlystik insert/outsert system built to 450 grains and a 200-grain razor-sharp fixed blade broadhead for a total arrow weight of 650 grains.

The 575-grain total arrow weight build includes Momentum TDT carbon hunting arrows with a Grizzlystik insert/outsert system built to 450 grains and a 125-grain razor sharp fixed blade broadhead for a total arrow weight of 575 grains.

The 800-grain total arrow weight build includes Momentum TDT carbon hunting arrows with a Grizzlystik insert/outsert system built to 450 grains and a 350-grain razor sharp fixed blade broadhead for a total arrow weight of 800 grains.

The 650-grain build has the most punch and penetration power and can break through more bone than the 575-grain build. However, the 575-grain build offers a flatter trajectory, so bowhunters who put more importance on a flatter trajectory are able to take longer shots and generally go with the lighter, faster 575-grain build.

Whether you decide on the 650-grain build or the 575-grain build, you will be shooting arrow and broadhead combinations that are optimized for the utmost penetration on all big game animals. The 575-grain build - Has 11 of the 12 Factors but is lighter than the heavy bone threshold. This build can still break bone, just not as much as the 650-grain build, but it has a flatter trajectory.

The 800-grain build - Has all 12 of the factors but is heavier than the 650-grain build for those who want to be able to penetrate even more bone than the 650-grain build can.

This powerful build incorporates all 12 of Dr. Ed Ashby's Top 12 Penetration Enhancement Factors. The total weight of the finished arrows with broadheads is 650 grains. At 650-grains you've reached the heavy bone threshold and with solid GrizzlyStik single bevel fixed blade broadheads on board, your chances of blowing through bone and still reaching the kill zone are excellent. Sure, you're supposed to make your shot, the arrow is supposed to go exactly where you want it to go, but it's bowhunting, and that doesn't always happen. When that doesn't happen, you need a "Plan B" arrow. A Plan-B arrow is actually an arrow and broadhead combination that results in a "Penetration Enhanced" build. Dr. Ed Ashby, 575-grain High FOC Big Game Build - For ALL North American Big Game and ALL African Plains Game up to and including eland.

The 575-grain build is suitable for the same animals as the 650-grain build. I can do almost everything that the 650-grain build can do, it just doesn't hit quite as hard and penetrate as much animal or as much bone as the 650-grain build. What it DOES DO is fly flatter, fly faster, and fly further. If you place more importance on being able to shoot longer distances, if you want a faster carbon arrow or a flatter trajectory from your arrow, then the 575-grain build is your better choice.

To build you this 575-grain build we weigh the arrows after we cut them and all your components. Then we add weights to the insert if needed to force the arrow to weigh 450-grains fletched. When you add a 125-grain GrizzlyStik fixed blade broadhead to that carbon arrow, your TAW (Total Arrow Weight) will be 575-grains.

Dr. Ed Ashby, 800-grain, High FOC Big Game Build - For ALL North American Big Game and ALL African Plains Game up to and including Cape buffalo.

For the basic details, refer to the description of the 650-grain build above. This build is simply heavier. Because of that, it can penetrate more mass upon impact than the 650-grain build can. Since it's heavier, it has a trajectory that isn't as flat shooting as the 650-grain build too. If most of your shots are taken at 50 yards and under, this build is going to be tough to beat.

When you add a 350-grain GrizzlyStik Ashby forged single bevel broadhead to that carbon arrow, your TAW (Total Arrow Weight) will be 800-grains.
